Recessed downlight, also known as embedded downlight, are a type of lights that can be installed into the ceiling and flush with the ceiling. It generally consists of two parts: the lamp body and the driver, and sometimes there are integrated styles

Recessed downlight and surface-mounted downlight have similar application, but they are very different in outlook, lamp installation ways and application as follows:

1. Installation ways
Recessed downlight: Installation embedded in the ceiling requires making a hole in the ceiling. The bezel is usually flush with the ceiling surface, and the downlight will completely cover the hole.
Surface-mounted downlights: Directly installed on the ceiling without drilling holes, more suitable for some ceilings that cannot be drilled, such as cement ceilings.
2. Outlook.
Recessed downlight: After being installed in the ceiling, they can be perfectly integrated with the ceiling. Users can only see the exposed part of the lamp and the light in the room, not the complete lamp.
Surface-mounted downlight: After being installed on the ceiling, surface-mounted downlights will be presented, so they also play a vital decorative role, which can give designers more room to play.
3. Application
Recessed downlight:
There is no big difference between surface-mounted downlight and recessed downlight in application. You can choose according to your own situation. If your ceiling is too narrow to fit into ceiling with a recessed downlight or you can’t make a hole in the ceiling, you may only choose surface-mounted downlights. If the hole is not affected, you can choose according to users’ preferences. Both of them can be used in kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, corridors, halls and other areas.
4. Maintenance and installation
Recessed downlight: Due to the complex wiring and holes, installation and maintenance may require professional electricians to operate.
Surface-mounted downlight: Installation and maintenance are relatively simple and quick, and it also saves time for making holes.

5. Light distribution
